We returned to Sugar Pine Reservoir this past Sunday with friends, for some more paddling, hiking and photographing. One of the images I wanted to get when Jeff and I were there the previous Sunday, I was unable to get because I forgot to charge my backup battery! Oh, well, s**t happens! The shot that's been on my assignment list for sometime, is of someone on the dock in the late afternoon. While we were waiting for our friends to unload their gear, I noticed several teens hanging out at the end of the dock. It was 1:00. That's not the time I generally like to shoot, but I added a polarizer to my lens and shot away anyway. I managed to get several great shots in spite of the less than perfect lighting. But, when we returned to the dock later, about 6:00, I had my husband photograph our dog Cocoa and I in the same spot with beautiful sidelighting. It was definitely worth the wait! Visit our Website for links to photo galleries.

Sherri, I happened upon your pictures while looking for sites to send a friend in Kentucky about where I live. I just loved your photograph with your dog. Somehow you managed to capture the feeling I get when I am out there at Sugar Pine. It is a feeling of almost timeless peace. It is a place I love to go and kayak, swim, picnic, hike, bike or like you take photographs. Thanks for such a fine representation of what it is like there.

Hi Lisa,

Thank you for your comment. If you frequent Sugar Pine Reservoir and you kayak, bike, hike, photograph etc., then our paths may have even crossed before. My husband and I usually make it up there 2-3 times each summer. Our dog, Cocoa, loves to troll along the shore for minnows. She can entertain herself for hours that way.

I will be adding kayakng Sugar Pine Reservoir photos, as well as the photos on my blog to our on-line galleries in the near future. Be sure to check back regularily. That way, you will have more photos of your area to show your friend in Kentucky.

Sounds like we have a lot in common. Do you live in Foresthill or the Auburn area? Maybe we can hook up sometime for a paddle, hike, or to photograph.

Thanks again for your interest.

Sherri, I just spent about an hour going through all the photographs posted on your website and I was so impressed with your work. I am going to forward the link to your home page to several of my friends out of state to see your work. You truly capture the essence of this area. I would love to meet you sometime. I have lived in Foresthill since remarrying in 2003. I was in Morgan Hill before then but I am a native Texan. Let’s get together for coffee or lunch or something. That would be great. In the meantime I will look forward to seeing the upcoming kayak photos. Thank you for such beautiful pictures!

Hi Lisa,

Thank you for your awesome feedback. I grew up in San Jose and I used to go to Morgan Hill often. I’ve never been to Texas. I/we would love to go to the Austin City Limits sometime. Have you ever been there?

Why don’t you email me and we can discuss getting together. Do you come to Auburn much? Have you ever hiked any of the Auburn trails? There are several good ones. We could meet for coffee, then hit the trails. Or we could skip the coffee and hit the trails!
