Photo - Aspen grove revised (cut both the saturation and the underexposure by 1/2)
For those of you that have been adding your comments regarding this Aspen grove shot, I've added the 3rd shot that I hope will be the pick of the pics.
What do you think?
Photo # 1 - As shot (Aspen grove near Bridgeport, CA)
Photo # 2 was underexposed, then saturated (Aspen grove near Bridgport, CA)
It looks like we are not going to get in a fall color shoot this year in the high country. We were in Sierra County, near Truckee about 3 weeks ago and we were too early. Now, it's too late. So I decided to put up a photo from our fall colors trip last October, along scenic highway 395. Actually, I'm putting up 2 of them again and I would love your opinion on which one you prefer. I will go ahead and give you my opinion. I prefer #2. But, I loved #1 until I started experimenting with it.
I'm learning that just about any photo can be improved, even when you think it can't. But, then again, that's just my opinion!
Photo - Mt. Shasta, California
The first subject I wanted to photograph on our road trip to Central Oregon last month was Mt. Shasta. Unfortunately, it wasn't possible as it was surrounded by fog. On our return trip to California, I was able to capture the shot above. It was well worth the wait!
Photo - Golden Mantel Ground Squirrel dining on Cocoa's food
This little guy was one of hundreds of Golden Mantel Ground Squirrels and Yellow-Pine Chipmunks that occupied the La Pine State Park where we camped for 4-days. Our dog, Cocoa, was completely entertained by these little critters, especially when they found her food!
Photo - Family camping at La Pine State Park Campground, Oregon
The family in this photo, was one of several families that had come here for a school field trip. They made base camp here and visited nearby attractions during the day.
La Pine SP was spectacular! We brought our neighbors tent trailer again for this trip. They even had full hook-ups for just $17.00 per night (high season rate). Many of Oregon's State Parks have full RV hook-ups, compared to California where we live. Just a few of California's State Parks have them. In addition, the bathrooms were heated and the showers had hot water. Cabins and Yurts were also available for rent, as an alternative to a tent or a RV. This park was also equipped with a recycling center for disposing of your bottles, cans and plastic, as well as an RV dump station.
The most bizarre thing about our stay here, was that the 2 RV sites directly across from us, were occupied by people from the Auburn, CA area where we live. And they weren't even traveling together! It really is a small world!
