Woman running in Panorama Park, Bakersfield, California.
As mentioned in a previous post, Panorama Park is great for running, walking, walking your dog and bicycling to name just a few.
For us, it’s a great place to work off the calories from our Thanksgiving feast. Apparently, a lot of other people feel the same way, as there is always a steady flow of people exercising there every year when we visit!

Bakersfield, CA sunset viewed from the Panorama Bluffs.
I’ve been to Bakersfield many times without seeing a sunset, or at least one like this. During most of my visits there, the sky has been foggy and gray. But, this time was different. While visiting there this year for Thanksgiving, I actually got to experience a beautiful Bakersfield sunset for probably the 2nd or 3rd time in 25 years!
I’m really glad I had the opportunity to see and photograph this scene, because it may be years before the opportunity presents itself again!

Zoom of Palm trees, Panorama Bluffs, Bakersfield, California.
IÂ decided to try zooming the Palm trees on the Panorama Bluffs. To get this effect, I used a Polarizer and zoomed at 1/10th sec at F 22.
For more information on this technique, be sure to read my tutorial how to create great zooms that I posted a few months ago.

View of North Bakersfield as seen from the Panorama Bluffs.
Let’s face it. Bakersfield to most people is not the prettiest city in the country. But, no matter where you travel, you can always find something beautiful, or at least interesting to photograph!

Digital art photo of Palm trees, Panorama Bluffs, Bakersfield, CA.
I experimented a little more with the original photograph of the Palm trees I posted 2 days ago. Although I really like the digital art versions, my favorite one is still the original!

Digital art photo of Palm trees on the Panorama Bluffs, Bakersfield, CA.
This digital art photo is created from the same photo I posted yesterday. I liked the original photo so much, I wanted to see what other versions of it I could come up with, by doing a little experimenting in PhotoShop.

Palm trees in silhouette on the Panorama Bluffs, Bakersfield, California.
We just returned from our trip to the Bahamas for Thanksgiving. Whoops, I mean Bakersfield! But, by the looks of the photo, we could have been in the Bahamas, or Hawaii, or Mexico, or just about anywhere Palm trees grow!

Photo – Digital art photo created from an out-of-focus original photograph
I’m not a wildlife photographer per se, but when an opportunity presents itself like it did here, I’d be a fool not to try to capture it.

Photo – “Pumpkin and Petunias” in Nevada City, CA
This fall decoration really caught my eye and I love it for two reasons. It’s simple. It’s also unique. The unique combination of the Pumpkin and the Petunias is quite a contrast. One way to add impact to a photograph, is by including contrasting subjects in the composition. Â
