Bakersfield Sunset

Bakersfield, CA sunset viewed from the Panorama Bluffs.

I've been to Bakersfield many times without seeing a sunset, or at least one like this. During most of my visits there, the sky has been foggy and gray. But, this time was different. While visiting there this year for Thanksgiving, I actually got to experience a beautiful Bakersfield sunset for probably the 2nd or 3rd time in 25 years! I'm really glad I had the opportunity to see and photograph this scene, because it may be years before the opportunity presents itself again!

Wow. What does it look like typically at sunset then? Hazy? Central Valley has the worst air quality anywhere!

I’m only there 3 nights per year out of 365 and it is usually hazy, or foggy and gray.

I’ve never really asked someone that lives there how often they see a sunset like this, but it has been rare for me during my visits.
