Now that the new year has rolled around, it’s time to shed some of the extra pounds I’ve been carrying around for the past 3-4 years.

Foresthill Bridge -Â Auburn, CA
The famous Foresthill Bridge is the 3rd highest bridge (over 700 feet) in the US and is the highest bridge in CA. It was also featured in the film XXX.
Well, we didn’t have a White Christmas! But, we did get a half inch or so of snow last night. Unfortunately, it has been melting all night and is almost gone. It was still exciting!
I am bringing my camera on my run this morning, if it doesn’t start raining. Hopefully, I will bring back something worth adding to this post later on.

I was taking a walk in our neighborhood a few days ago with our dog, Cocoa. I took my camera along in hopes of finding something I could photograph, that I could use in this post.Â
As I was walking by this outdoor Christmas tree in our neighbors yard, I saw Cocoa and I in this ornament. I thought that would be perfect!
So, to everyone out there that follows this Blog, we wish you a Merry Christmas!

Photo – Horse in a rural Auburn, CA pasture
I’ve been trying to get a good shot of this horse, during my morning walks for quite sometime. On the days when the conditions were the best, I didn’t have my camera. Then, I would carry my camera and the conditions wouldn’t be good.
Finally, a couple of weeks ago, everying lined up. I brought my camera and I got there when the lighting was just right. There was also frost on the ground, which added greatly to the scene. It was worth the wait!
Well, it’s raining cats and dogs again today. I had originally planned on going into Old Town, where the photo above was taken and shooting the town all dressed up for Christmas. But, I think I’ll bag that idea and continue on with my holiday baking and gift making.

So much for having a White Christmas this year, according to the Weather Man! Of course, we know that they are not always right!

This post doesn’t really fit into the winter theme I was on. But, it does fit into a ongoing theme about things we observe in our own front yard, like a beautiful Sierra Sunrise, snowfall or a deer!

Jeff and IÂ are looking forward to another great Cross Country Ski season this year. Hopefully, we will get out more than we did last year, which was only once. But, the previous year, we managed to ski a dozen times. Wow – that sounds a little out-of-balance to me!
Photo – Digital art photo of a Sierra Sunrise, Auburn, CA
I have been having so much fun lately creating Digital Art photos, I decided to experiment with the Sierra Sunrise photo I posted a few days ago. I really like the way this turned out.
Creating Digital Art photos has been a nice change from what I normally produce, which is travel, adventure and outdoor lifestyle images. I believe it’s important to break the paradigm every now and then and create just for the fun of it!
