Sunset over Blue Lake, Tahoe National Forest, California
Here is another shot of Blue Lake taken from the ridge, overlooking the lake. This version is the way it actually looked when I shot it.
Â
For this version of the photo above, I did a little adjusting in PhotoShop to bring out the blue tones. After all, the name of the lake is "Blue Lake!"
Silhouette of a couple canoeing on Blue Lake, Tahoe National Forest, California
There are several Blue Lakes in California. But, the one in the photo above has been a favorite of ours for many years. In fact, we have kept it a "secret" up until now. I won't tell exactly how to get there, other than it's the Blue Lake near Lake Spaulding, in the Tahoe National Forest.

The Blue Thunder story continues...
It's been 25 years since this photo was taken on our
California Poppies and Purple Lupine, Hidden Falls Regional Park, Auburn, California
I love the contrast between the orange Poppies and the purple Lupine so much, I am posting another version of the photo I posted yesterday.
Windy Point Trail 2008 wildflower update
A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about the Windy Point Trail. Jeff and I have not been there yet this year. But, a couple of our friends were there a couple of weeks ago and reported that the California Poppies, Lupine and Goldfields were putting on a great show.Â
I'm not sure how much longer they will last, but most likely for a couple more weeks or so. If you can't make it up there this year, be sure to put it on your list for next year!Â
California Poppies and Purple Lupine, Hidden Falls Regional Park, Auburn, California
The hillside near the Hidden Falls Regional Park parking lot is covered with these colorful California Poppies and Purple Lupine.
If you are short on time, or disabled and unable to take a wildflower hike here, you can still get an eyefull of color without getting out of your car.
Please refer to my last post for more information about the park.
Enjoy!Â
Wild Sierra Iris growing along the Poppy Loop Trail at Hidden Falls Regional Park, in the Sierra Nevada Foothills, Auburn, California
One year ago this past Thursday, Jeff and I spent our 25th anniversary adventuring in Cabo San Lucas. This year we spent it adventuring in our own neck-of-the-woods. Although it wasn't near as wild as our week in Cabo, it was wild of a different nature.
It was wild as in "wildflowers."

Heading towards Utica Reservoir, Alpine County, California
Here is another shot of our Toyota Landcruiser FJ-40, Blue Thunder, doing what it does best - tackling hard to get to places!
As I mentioned in my last post, we will be selling Blue Thunder soon. Before we do, I wanted to post a few photos of our favorite off-road adventures we have enjoyed in it.
To get this shot, I stood up in the back and clinched on to the roll bar with one white knuckled hand, while shooting with the other. What I love about this photo is that it gives the viewer, YOU, the feeling that you are actually there.
More photos of Blue Thunder and some of our favorite locations such as Utica Reservoir, Blue Lake, Gold Lake and maybe even the famous Rubion Trail to come!
Off-road adventure into Utica Reservoir, Alpine County, California
Blue Thunder has been a part of our family for 25 years. But, unfortunately, the time has come that we will be finding it a new home soon.

This theme on paddling the north fork of the American River has been very popular, so I decided to post one more photo of it.Â
These guys are in an eddy, just below where the photo in my last post was taken.Â
