Fall in the Foothills – Nevada City, CA

It's not too late to see the fall colors in Nevada City. This shot was taken on Monday of this week. My husband and I got up there just in time to see peak fall color. If you are thinking about visiting there this weekend, I don't think you will be disappointed. It will probably be spectacular for a few more days. If you have never been to Nevada City before (or even if you have), you should put it on your list of things to do in California's Gold Country. It is one of the quaintest and picturesque of all the Gold Rush Towns in California. And it's fun to visit there any time of the year! If you live within a couple of hours of Nevada City, it makes a great day trip location. It is located on highway 49, just 30 minutes from Auburn and about 90 minutes from Sacramento. If you are not able to make it to Nevada City to see the peak fall color, you can always visit some of the lower elevation towns in the area, such as Auburn, or Coloma. They will have peak fall color a week or two later.
