Gold Lake Sunrise.
Image #2 - This abstract of the American River is a favorite, because it was one of my first successful nature abstract images. To see this image larger and to learn more about it, please see American River Abstract.
Image #3 - Ponderosa Paradise is one of my newest images. What I really love about this one is the lovely patterns on the wall. This was the first time we had been there when the water level was low enough to see them. What a treat! To see this one larger and to learn more about it, please see Ponderosa Paradise.
Image #4 - This photo of the Buck was taken in my front yard. I keep my camera handy with the long lens mounted on it, for moments like this. I shot this one through the glass on our French Door, otherwise our dog, Cocoa, would have gone out on the deck and scared it away before I got my photos. Sometimes, you just have to make sacrifices to get the shot! To see this image larger and to learn more about it, please see Portrait of a Buck.
Image #5 - This is an example of making something out of nothing! I headed out one very cold and frosty morning for a walk. I was almost positive there would be something to shoot, due to the frost. I only got as far as the bottom of our driveway, when I noticed the grass in our neighbor's pasture looked promising for a nature abstract. This is what I walked away with. To see this image larger and to learn more about it, please see Bluegrass.
Image #6 - You must be an early riser to get photos like this. Staying in that warm, cozy sleeping bag = big photo opportunities missed! I am never sorry when I make myself get up early! To see this image larger and to learn more about it, please see Purple Mountains Majesty.
Image #7 - My dear friend, Peg, who is in many of my photos and who also LOVES to kayak looked so peaceful out there on the lake, I just had to shoot her! 🙂 When photographing people doing things, it's always a good idea to have them participating in the things they enjoy. I remember asking someone who doesn't run to run for me for photos once. Guess what? They were horrible. Lesson learned! To see this one larger and to learn more about it, please see Kayaking Gold Lake.
Image #8 - This image was taken from nearly the same spot and 30 minutes apart from image #6 above. The only difference was I was looking East for Purple Mountain Majesty and West for this one. Another example of what you can capture when you crawl out of your warm, cozy sleeping bag early in the morning! To see this one larger and to learn more about it, please see Fire on the Mountains.
Image #9 - No one has ever guessed how this image was created. This is not a real Pine Tree. This is my lampshade. I used a really slow shutter speed and a long lens. Then, I panned the tree vertically, using the continuous shooting mode making many images; some good and some not so good. When ever you do experimental shots like this it is hard to predict how they are going to turn out, so you need to take lot's of them! To see this image larger, please see Pine Tree Abstract.
Image #10 - Last, but not least, here is another one of my friend, Peg, kayaking on Gold Lake at sunset. The sky was fabulous the night this was taken and she was a great model as always! To see this image larger, please see Kayaking Gold Lake.
Thank you for visiting and HAPPY NEW YEAR, from Sherri Meyer Photography!

It was really hard to limit this selection to just 10 images...but here are 10 of my favorites in random order. I chose them based on several factors; most popular, most fun to create and just because they are some of my personal favorites.
Image #1 - This image was selected because it has had repeat sales and I LOVE Gold Lake! To see this image larger and to learn more about it please see
"Purple Mountains Majesty" and looking west for "Fire on the Mountains!" They were also developed using different techniques in the super wonderful Photoshop Lightroom 3.
When you have a great scene such as this in front of you...it's always a good idea to shoot it in as many ways as possible. You never know if you are going to return or not!
Cheers,
Sherri

Our two newest images above were taken this past October, during our Eastern Sierra Road Trip.
Can you believe that these two images were taken 30 minutes apart and from approximately the same spot? Yep...that's right. The only differences are that I was looking east when I shot
Face in the Desert" is the first image I have developed using LR 3.
I will be spending many hours between now and the end of the year re-organizing our catalogs, editing and developing new images and getting ready for 2012. 🙂

Yesterday, we upgraded to Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3...FINALLY! So, this morning, I started working with it...NICE! The image above "
Ponderosa Paradise" is our most recent addition to the images we have available for sale or licensing. It was just added this week and has already become one of our most popular images.

I just had to stop at this spot along the beautiful Walker River, during our recent road trip. The sun was going down really fast, so I had to work really fast to get a few shots of the scene. This one is a "keeper" and one of my favorites!
I'm submitting this photo for the
About the photo:
This is from our recent "Eastern Sierra" road trip. You can see more photos on my Facebook Page; also on my Google+ Profile.
Most of the photos you see of this famous arch are void of people, taken at night, early morning etc. We couldn't be everywhere for the good light and this is one of the locations we had to improvise on. Of course, a polariser was used for this image, otherwise the sky would have "sucked" (I hate that word, but I'm using it anyway!).
The big mountain in the background is Lone Pine Peak and next to it on the right behind the arch is Mount Whitney.

For several days, I haven't been able to work on my blog at all. After lot's of trouble shooting and help on Google+, I have concluded that it was issues with Firefox. I am now using Google Chrome and I'm really anxious to see how it's going to work. So far, so good!
Eastern Sierra Road Trip. We had a long list of places to go and things to shoot for our stock photo files and fine art collection. As always, we didn't make it to every place on the list, nor did we shoot everything we wanted to shoot. Here is one of the images we captured that has already been uploaded to our Website.
Abstract Aspens (as well as all of our other images) can be ordered as Prints, Greeting Cards or Personal Use Downloads. Before ordering, be sure to check out our Discount Coupon Specials.
I also teach Abstract Photo Workshops. If you would like to be notified of my upcoming Abstract Photo Workshops, I recommend signing up for our Photo Newsletter. I will be sending the November issue out soon!

YIPPEE. Tomorrow morning, we are heading down the highway...395 that is. We are taking the slow route to Bakersfield, for a Big Bash with Jeff's high school classmates, plus an early Thanksgiving celebration with his Mom.
We will be in and out of cell range, but we will connect whenever possible. We will be shooting for our stock files and fine art in route, dipping in a few hot springs and whatever else that inspires us.
I also wanted to share our new products with you. You can find them over here on our
