It's been a really long time since my niece and nephew were young like this. I used to photograph them a lot.
Thanks to our "Baby Boomer" friends Donna and Daniel for having Maya. I am really enjoying photographing her. She is very photogenic just like her Mom Donna, who has been one of my top models for a long time.
I took several photos of her in this same location, but this one really captured my attention.

This photo shows the whole movie set where "Love Comes Softly" was filmed. It reminds me of the television series "Little House on the Prairie!" That was one of my favorite shows when I was growing up.

Thanks to PhotoShop CS3, we were able to get one good photo from the two that I took of this scene.
In most cases, I take at least 1 horizonal and 1 vertical of everything I photograph. It's always a good idea when you have a good scene in front of you to take more than 1 photo of it. You may never have a 2nd opportunity. This time it was absolutely vital that I did take the 2nd photo.
This is what happened. The horizontal photo was really good of Maya (girl) and the vertical photo was better of Donna (Mom). Now, here is where PhotoShop CS3 came to our rescue. We were able to cut Donna's face from the vertical shot and replace her face in the horizontal with the good one. This is something we have never tried before until now. We are really pleased with the results.

A hike on one of the newest trail systems in our area was the perfect way to spend New Year's Day!
Jeff & I have known about this park for a couple of years or so (opened in 2005), but we hadn't checked it out until this week. We spent the afternoon hiking with our friend Donna and daughter Maya, at highly recommended Cronan Ranch Regional Trails Park. Cross Country Skiing off of highway 20, Nevada County, California.
Happy New Year Everyone!
It's hard to believe another year has blown by. When I was growing up my Mother always told me "The older you get the faster the years go by." She was right!
This photo was taken a couple of years ago. We have only been skiing once since that time. That was last year. Two of the things I want to do more of this year is to ski and snowshoe. I remember saying the same thing last year. It's a good thing the one day we did ski last year was one of the best EVER!
Other things on the list for 2009 are to do a winter paddle on nearby Lake Clementine, get more regular with my Yoga workouts and playing the guitar. Then there is that one thing that lands on nearly everyone's list; losing weight. This by no means is a complete list. But, these are definitely some of the most important ones on my list. I hope I'm not writing this same list a year from now!

Well, we didn't get the "White Christmas" we were hoping for. But, we have had a couple of low snowfalls recently. Unfortunately, the snow didn't stick either time.
We still have a lot of winter ahead of us. We could still get a snowfall like you see in the photo in my "Merry Christmas" post.
