Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July everyone. This day brings back lots of very fond memories, growing up in the East Foothills of San Jose, California. We always had family and friends over for a big BBQ, which as I recall included tons of corn on the cob, potatoe salad and homemade ice cream. [click to continue…]

In case you haven’t heard, California is on fire. In Northern California alone, an estimated 200,000 square miles have already burned. Most of the several hundred fires burning are due to the several thousand lightening strikes from earlier this week. [click to continue…]

I’d Rather Be Kayaking

In the post Pardon Our Dust I wrote a few days ago, I mentioned that we were in the midst of a huge project involving our Webite. At first glance, our Website looks the same as it did. But, if you go to our galleries, you will notice that our images are now on our own server, not PhotoShelter’s.

Had we known how time and labor intensive this project would be, we may have taken another route. But, now, we are nearly done and we are very happy with the results. We still have some massaging to do, before we can safely say we’re done. But, we should have that completed in a few more days.

We are looking forward to a little kayaking and hiking really soon!

Howdy!

Jeff and I are in the process of making some major changes to our Website. You won’t notice anything different at this time, unless you try to purchase an image. We hope to have this project completed and the dust settled by the end of next week.

In the meantime, if you would like to order prints, or license our images, please let us know by sending us an email at sherri@sherrimeyer.com.

Thank you,

Jeff & Sherri

Steve Hadley kayaking Sugar Pine Reservoir, Foresthill, California.

Sugar Pine Reservoir is one of our favorite spots to visit in the summer. It’s only about 45 minutes from Auburn and it’s a great spot to kayak, canoe, fish, picnic, hike, bike, run, swim and camp.

My husband and I usually bring our kayaks or our canoe and our hiking shoes and make a day trip out of it, although we have camped there a couple of times. We like to hike the 3.5-mile loop trail around the lake, then put our boats on the water for some great paddling. Our dog, Cocoa, is always with us when we visit Sugar Pine, as it is one of her favorite “dog friendly” spots too!  After awhile of paddling, she is ready (and so are we) to hang out at our favorite spot along the shore.

During the winter months, nearby China Wall Staging Area is a popular spot for Cross Country Skiing, Snowshoeing, Sled-Dogging and Snowmobiling. There are also other great spots near China Wall and Sugar Pine to play in the snow.

Foresthill is booming right now. That is one reason why we are going to be adding new Foresthill photos to our galleries soon, along with other popular subjects.

During the next few weeks, we will be processing lots of new images to add to our galleries. And many of the images we will be adding have been featured on this blog during the past few months. Here is a partial list of subjects we will be working on.

Happy 1 Year Anniversary!

by Sherri on January 18, 2008

I just realized that I started this Blog one year ago today! I have also noticed over the course of the year, that a lot of people read my first blog entry. I did the same thing, when I was doing my research, before starting my Blog. And I bet a lot of you out there that have Blogs did too!

This first post was also one of my favorites of the year, so I thought it would be fun to repost it today.

Enjoy!

Title – Auburn, California – A Travel Destination?

lt all depends on who you are. A friend and former resident of Auburn doesn’t think so. He like so many others stop here on their way to Reno or Lake Tahoe.

Auburn Snowfall

by Sherri on December 28, 2007

Well, we didn’t have a White Christmas! But, we did get a half inch or so of snow last night. Unfortunately, it has been melting all night and is almost gone. It was still exciting!

I am bringing my camera on my run this morning, if it doesn’t start raining. Hopefully, I will bring back something worth adding to this post later on.

Sierra Sunrise 2

I have been having so much fun lately creating Digital Art photos, I decided to experiment with the Sierra Sunrise photo I posted a few days ago. I really like the way this turned out.

Creating Digital Art photos has been a nice change from what I normally produce, which is travel, adventure and outdoor lifestyle images. I believe it’s important to break the paradigm every now and then and create just for the fun of it!
