Movie location at the Cronan Ranch Regional Trails Park, Pilot Hill, California.
I have a few more photos to share over the next few days, that were taken during our recent hike at the Cronan Ranch Regional Trails Park.
This photo shows the whole movie set where “Love Comes Softly” was filmed. It reminds me of the television series “Little House on the Prairie!” That was one of my favorite shows when I was growing up.

Group of women having fun riding their horses, Cronan Ranch Regional Trails Park, Pilot Hill, California.
While I was photographing Donna & Maya at the cabin, this group of women on horseback came loping towards us. It actually felt like the makings of another movie!
It was great fun photographing these women. They just happened to be 1 group out of many this size or larger, that were riding at the Cronan Ranch Regional Trails Park on New Year’s Day.
I have to admit, there were several times during this hike that I wished I had a horse again! Having owned a horse for 16 years was one of the best experiences in my life. But, for now, I just enjoy being around them!
If anyone knows these women, please send me an email. Thank you!

Donna & Maya Bussinger looking through the window of the cabin at Cronan Ranch Regional Trails Park, Pilot Hill, California
Thanks to PhotoShop CS3, we were able to get one good photo from the two that I took of this scene.
In most cases, I take at least 1 horizonal and 1 vertical of everything I photograph. It’s always a good idea when you have a good scene in front of you to take more than 1 photo of it. You may never have a 2nd opportunity. This time it was absolutely vital that I did take the 2nd photo.
This is what happened. The horizontal photo was really good of Maya (girl) and the vertical photo was better of Donna (Mom). Now, here is where PhotoShop CS3 came to our rescue. We were able to cut Donna’s face from the vertical shot and replace her face in the horizontal with the good one. This is something we have never tried before until now. We are really pleased with the results.

Cabin at the Cronan Ranch Regional Trails Park, Pilot Hill, California.
During our hike at the Cronan Ranch Regional Trails Park on New Year’s Day, we stumbled upon this picturesque little cabin.
Come to find out, it was part of a movie set, which was used in Michael Landon Jr.’s 2003 movie “Love Comes Softly!”
I have more photos of this movie set coming soon!

Donna & Maya Bussinger hiking at Cronan Ranch Regional Trails Park, Pilot Hill, California.
A hike on one of the newest trail systems in our area was the perfect way to spend New Year’s Day!
Jeff & I have known about this park for a couple of years or so (opened in 2005), but we hadn’t checked it out until this week. We spent the afternoon hiking with our friend Donna and daughter Maya, at highly recommended Cronan Ranch Regional Trails Park. If you are looking for a great place to hike, run, mountain bike and horseback ride (to name just a few) in the Sierra Foothill’s, this is the place! [click to continue…]

Fallen Leaf Lake (foreground) and Lake Tahoe, California, taken from the Mount Tallac Trail.
After leaving Blue Lake, we drove south on 395 and headed for Fallen Leaf Campground, in South Lake Tahoe.
Some of our friends joined us there for the last leg of our road trip. While we were there, we hiked the spectacular Mount Tallac Trail.
This photo was taken during our hike. There are so many photos of Lake Tahoe that all look pretty much the same. I wanted to capture a more unique shot of this very popular subject.
Here is another post I wrote about our visit to Lake Tahoe.

View of Fallen Leaf Lake and Lake Tahoe, from the Mt. Tallac Trail, South Lake Tahoe, California
Our final destination during our road trip was Fallen Leaf Lake Campground, in South Lake Tahoe, California. We live less than 2 hours away from the most popular lake in the country (also known as “Lake in the sky”), but we usually avoid it because of the crowds.

The famous and historic “No Hands Bridge,” Auburn, California
While on a hike and location scouting trip recently down in the American River Canyon, I took this shot of the famous “No Hands Bridge.” Â
I have photographed this bridge a few times, but not from this perspective. I really like the unique angle of view and the way the bridge is reflected in the American River.
This photo will be available in our Auburn Stock Photo Gallery soon, along with this photo of No Hands Bridge.
