Old Barn in Taylorsville, California after the makeover.
As I was looking for something to add to my Northeastern California Album this morning, I came across this photo of a barn I shot in Podunk Taylorsville, California. It was taken at noonish…the worst time of the day for photography in most cases. It had power lines in it, an ugly sky and was very close to getting tossed. Something told me to see if I could make a “keeper” out of it.
I made a virtual copy of the original file in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, converted it from color to antique and removed the power lines. From there, I took it into Photoshop CS3 and added the filter “poster edges.” The difference is amazing…it went from an “Ugly Duckling” into something that inspires me.

This is what the original image looked like straight out of the camera! Did you find this tutorial helpful?

"Abstract Aspens" along scenic Highway 395, Eastern Sierra, California.
A couple of weeks ago, my husband, our dog and I did a Eastern Sierra Road Trip. We had a long list of places to go and things to shoot for our stock photo files and fine art collection. As always, we didn’t make it to every place on the list, nor did we shoot everything we wanted to shoot. Here is one of the images we captured that has already been uploaded to our Website.
Abstract Aspens (as well as all of our other images) can be ordered as Prints, Greeting Cards or Personal Use Downloads. Before ordering, be sure to check out our Discount Coupon Specials.
I also teach Abstract Photo Workshops. If you would like to be notified of my upcoming Abstract Photo Workshops, I recommend signing up for our Photo Newsletter. I will be sending the November issue out soon!
Cheers,

Jeff & Cocoa camping at Buckeye Campground, near Bridgeport, Eastern Sierra, California.
YIPPEE. Tomorrow morning, we are heading down the highway…395 that is. We are taking the slow route to Bakersfield, for a Big Bash with Jeff’s high school classmates, plus an early Thanksgiving celebration with his Mom.
We will be in and out of cell range, but we will connect whenever possible. We will be shooting for our stock files and fine art in route, dipping in a few hot springs and whatever else that inspires us.
I also wanted to share our new products with you. You can find them over here on our New Product Info/Discount Coupons page. If you have any questions, just contact us via email or phone and we will get back to you when we come out of the woods!
Cheers,
Sherri

Portrait of Peg. This image of my friend, Peg, was taken while camping at Gold Lake in Sierra County, CA this summer.
You can now find me on Google+. Come on over and join me at: https://plus.google.com/118122106764594800502/posts. After just two days on there, I will have to say, I’m very impressed with the way it works and the quality of content I’ve seen so far. Like everything else, there is a bit of a learning curve, but it’s worth it!
Today on Google+ is #WomenWednesday and this image was submitted for it. There are currently several Themes for each day of the week. Apparently, the Themes are very popular. They are also fun and a great way to hone your photography skills!
I hope to see you there!
Cheers,

Abstracts are so fun to create and I love to teach others how to create them too! I’ve got an Abstract Photo Workshop comin’ up really soon here in Auburn. Come join in on the fun!
See Abstract Photo Workshops for more information and to register!
Hope to see you there!
