Mountain Biking the Confluence Trail
Mountain biking the Confluence Trail, Auburn State Recreation Area, Auburn, California
The Confluence Trail is #5 of the five trails that make up the Clementine Loop Trail. It begins off Old Foresthill Road out of the Mammoth Bar OHV area in Placer County, runs along the Middle Fork of the American River and ends up at the Foresthill Bridge.
The Quarry Trail (see the trail in the background of this photo) that I wrote about in previous posts, is on the other side of the river, in El Dorado County.
Note: This trail is recommended for advanced riders only.

looks like a really narrow trail Sherri. I’d be too scared to try it myself. You really know your “backyard” well.
Parts of this trail are very narrow. In fact, several years ago, a woman fell to her death, while biking (or hiking) on this trail. I’m not sure how many feet she tumbled, but it would have to be in the hundreds.
That is crazy. Sounds like all it would take is one bad bump off a rock.
Or possibly a dog jumping in front of you. Our dog loves to lunge at bikes!
We love to hike this trail, but we will let the “hard core” mountain bikers bike it!
