Let’s face it. Bakersfield to most people is not the prettiest city in the country. But, no matter where you travel, you can always find something beautiful, or at least interesting to photograph!
I experimented a little more with the original photograph of the Palm trees I posted 2 days ago. Although I really like the digital art versions, my favorite one is still the original!
This digital art photo is created from the same photo I posted yesterday. I liked the original photo so much, I wanted to see what other versions of it I could come up with, by doing a little experimenting in PhotoShop.
We just returned from our trip to the Bahamas for Thanksgiving. Whoops, I mean Bakersfield! But, by the looks of the photo, we could have been in the Bahamas, or Hawaii, or Mexico, or just about anywhere Palm trees grow!

Photo – Abstract Aspen grove, near Bridgeport, CA
This abstract was created from the same original photograph of the Aspen grove I have been featuring over the last few weeks. I used the Spherize Distorting Filter in PhotoShop to get this effect. This doesn’t work well on all subjects, but with a little experimenting, you will find what works best.
Happy experimenting!

Although fall has pretty much done it’s thing, I’ve decided that I’m not done creating fall images! Here is a very abstract version of an Aspen grove photo I featured a few weeks back.
Photo -Â “Etheral Webs”
This is one of the first photos I took with my DSLR camera. I was hiking along the middle fork of the American River one fall day, when I came upon this most unusual nature scene. The spider webs were backlit and covered with dew, which gave them a very etheral look. That really caught my eye. The people I was hiking with never even noticed them, but they weren’t hunting for photo ops either!
This photo will be one of many new nature scenes available very soon as a fine art print. We are currently working on a Holiday 2007 Print Gallery, that should be finished within a couple of weeks.Â
