Fungi

by Sherri on December 7, 2012

There is a “Fungus Among Us.” I couldn’t resist!

I found this fungi attached to a log down in the American River Canyon. This time of the year they are everywhere in our neck-of-the-woods. It is hard for me to believe that something so ugly can be so beautiful at the same time!

What do you think?

Walker River

by Sherri on November 11, 2011

The Walker River, Eastern Sierra, California.

I just had to stop at this spot along the beautiful Walker River, during our recent road trip. The sun was going down really fast, so I had to work really fast to get a few shots of the scene. This one is a “keeper” and one of my favorites!

I’m submitting this photo for the #FallFriday theme on Google+. I welcome you all to join me over there. If you are interested in photography, you can learn a ton of stuff from some really great photographers. Come join me. Just click on the link above.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Abstract Aspens

by Sherri on November 1, 2011

"Abstract Aspens" along scenic Highway 395, Eastern Sierra, California.

A couple of weeks ago, my husband, our dog and I did a Eastern Sierra Road Trip. We had a long list of places to go and things to shoot for our stock photo files and fine art collection. As always, we didn’t make it to every place on the list, nor did we shoot everything we wanted to shoot. Here is one of the images we captured that has already been uploaded to our Website.

Abstract Aspens (as well as all of our other images) can be ordered as Prints, Greeting Cards or Personal Use Downloads. Before ordering, be sure to check out our Discount Coupon Specials.

I also teach Abstract Photo Workshops. If you would like to be notified of my upcoming Abstract Photo Workshops, I recommend signing up for our Photo Newsletter. I will be sending the November issue out soon!

Cheers,

Sherri

Eastern Sierra Road Trip Update

by Sherri on October 26, 2011

Fall colors at Conway Summit, Eastern Sierra, California.

We are back. As there is no such thing as perfect, I will rate this trip a 9 1/2 out of 10. We had a few very minor things go wrong, but that is to be expected!

The image above was captured from the road (highway 395) at Conway Summit. Actually, I shot this from the truck window and this is straight out of the camera. I did not push the color one bit on this one. The color over there was to die for, as it turns out, unlike what we heard before we left home! :-)

Our shooting wasn’t just about fall color though, as is for many folks traveling through this region this time of the year. We included people in many of our images kayaking, fishing, camping, soaking in hot springs, hiking and more, with the fall colors in the backdrop. We also shot landscapes, nature and abstracts for our Fine Art Collection.

NOTE: If you are planning a trip to the Eastern Sierra to photograph the colorful Aspens in all of their glory, I recommend going within the next week. Their leaves were falling like crazy at the higher elevations, when we were there last week!

Stay tuned for more images from this almost perfect adventure!

Cheers,

Sherri

Be Prepared!

by Sherri on July 19, 2011

A beautiful Buck in my front yard, Auburn, California.

Wow…it pays to be prepared! This is the 2nd time this week, I have had the amazing opportunity to photograph this and another Buck that have been hanging around lately. I keep my long lens mounted on the camera and the camera bag handy for moments like this. I shot this through the glass on the French Door. It was either do that or go on the deck and most likely miss the photo opportunity altogether, due to my barking dog.

Another shot of "Bucky" taken in my front yard, Auburn, CA.

Here is another shot of  “Bucky” from my front yard photo shoot last Saturday. I love the way he just walked right into the “sweet” light, without me having to ask him! ;-)

I love to get your feedback; either here or on my Facebook Photography page.

Enjoy!

“Transition”

by Sherri on November 20, 2010

This image was captured last year in my rural Auburn, CA neighborhood.

Yesterday, I posted this image on my Facebook Business Fan Page, but under a different name; not a name as good as “Transition!” That name was inspired by a comment one of my Fans made about this image. Thank you, Bob!

We have a great chance of getting snow this weekend, where we live in Auburn at the 1,600 foot level. You can bet, I will be out hunting for good things to capture in the snow if it does. We typically get a low snow in Auburn 1-3 times per year and it is a BIG deal to most of us!

We all ready for it. We have plenty of firewood for the wood stove, homemade soup, beer, love, great music and more!

I hope to have some images from the much talked about storm to share with you next week. Stay tuned!

Cheers,

~Sherri

Kern River: Bakersfield, California

by Sherri on November 12, 2010

Photo: The Kern River near Hart Memorial Park, Bakersfield, California.

This is one of the images that will be included in our new Bakersfield Gallery coming very soon! I am on a mission to capture images of Beautiful Bakersfield to prove a point; that beauty and great subjects can be found anywhere!

So many people refer to Bakersfield as ugly, boring, hot, dry and stinky. If you hear anything positive, it is usually from someone who lives there. Stay tuned, as I share with you “Bakersfield Through My Eyes.”

Thanks for visiting and be sure to check back soon!

The Foresthill Bridge (California's tallest bridge) stretches over the beautiful North Fork of the American River, Auburn, CA.

Auburn is awesome, especially in Autumn!

Join me this coming Sunday for an all day photo shoot down into the American River Canyon and in Old Town Auburn. See why Auburn is becoming more of a tourist destination and less of a place to just stop on the way to Lake Tahoe and Reno.

I love to share my town any chance I get and that is one reason why I am offering my American River/Old Town Auburn Photo Tour & Workshop.

Here are a few tidbits about Auburn:

  1. We have the oldest volunteer fire department in the West.
  2. We also have the tallest bridge in California.
  3. Parts of Phenomenon and XXX (among others) were filmed here.
  4. We are the “Endurance Capital of the World.”
  5. And much more…

I am offering this Photo Tour & Workshop at a sweet 2 for 1 price. For just $125.00, you and a friend (spouse, relative etc.) can enjoy a whole day with me (includes lunch), honing your photography skills and learning more about what makes Auburn so awesome!

Hurry and book before it’s too late. The deadline is this Wednesday!

See more images of Auburn.

Thanks for visiting!
