Whitewater rafting on the South Fork of the American River, near Coloma, California.

Thanks to my friend and fellow photographer, Richard Wong, I have done something I thought I’d never do. I jumped on the Twitter bandwagon! For months, I would read his little Twitter message on his Photo Blog and found it quite amusing at times. But, I really didn’t understand anything about it. So, what did I do to satisfy my curiosity? I did like millions of other curious folks are doing and I signed up for my “free” Twitter account. Once I signed up, it was easy to read all of his posts and it cleared up things a bit. But, I still didn’t really get the hang of it, so I put it on the back burner for a few more months. Close up photo of a rock outcropping along the Stagecoach Trail, Auburn, California.

Those of you following me on Twitter will recognize this photo. It is my background photo on my Twitter home page. I thought since it made my Twitter home page, I may as well feature it in a Blog post.

It would be great if more of my Blog followers would become Twitter followers and more of my Twitter followers would become Blog followers. All you have to do is click on the Twitter Widget on the sidebar of this Blog. If you are already a Twitter user, then click on “login.” If you are not, then click on “follow.”

You can also Retweet any post on this Blog by clicking on the lime green “Retweet” button. Retweeting is a very powerful Twitter tool, that can help your Twitter ranking in a BIG way and I will benefit too if you retweet my posts. That makes it a “Win-Win situation!”

Thank you for visiting. If you would like to leave a comment, simply click on the “comments” link (add your message in the box) at the bottom of this post.

You can also sign up for a “free” subscription to this Blog. Just look in the upper right hand side of the Blog under “Subscribe to Sherri’s Blog.” Then, either click on the orange button, or enter your email address and click on “subscribe.”

Healthy Lifestyles Stock Photo

Donna Bussinger hiking at the Cronan Ranch Regional Trails Park, Pilot Hill, California.

This is another one of my favorite shots taken the day of our hike. I love the simple, uncluttered composition. It also tells a story. You can tell that Donna is having a good time and she is active and healthy. She is also a Baby Boomer.

I took this photo because it will work well as a photo illustration in many different health related publications, as well as in advertisements.

Thank you for visiting. If you would like to leave a comment, simply click on the “comments” link (add your message in the box) at the bottom of this post.

Solitude at Ahjumawi

by Sherri on October 27, 2008

Horr Pond Camp, Ahjumawi Lava Springs State Park, California.

If you are looking for solitude, look no further. This park gets less than 2,000 visitors annually.

Just be sure to BYOB! No, I’m not talking about booze. BYOB stands for “bring your own boat.” That is the only way you will get to experience Ahjumawi.

I’d like to see this photo used on the cover of a Northern California kayaking or camping guidebook.

Note: Be sure to read my other posts on Ahjumawi. I’ve still got a couple more coming too!

Baby Boomer Stock Photography Slideshow

Baby Boomer Sherri Meyer viewing the spillway at Lake Clementine, Auburn, California (taken by Jeff Meyer).

A few days ago, I was reading Richard Wong’s Photo Blog. He had put together an awesome slideshow, showcasing a selection of his travel images from his PhotoShelter Archive.

I thought that was such a brilliant idea, I decided to create my own slideshow, showcasing some of my favorite “Baby Boomer” images from MY PhotoShelter Archive.

You can view it here: Baby Boomer Stock Photography Slideshow.

Interview with Richard Wong

by Sherri on August 4, 2008

Morning walk in rural Auburn, California

In my recent post “Exciting News,” I mentioned my upcoming interview with Professional Photographer and Writer Richard Wong.

It is now live and you can check it out over at Fieldnotes: The Non-Glamorous Side of Photography.

About the photo: This is another shot taken with my new 12-24mm super wide-angle Tokina lens.

While out for a morning walk recently, I did a little experimenting with my new super wide-angle lens. My goal was to shoot photos using a unique perspective, that would illustrate “walking for fitness.”  For this one, I also left plenty of empty space on the left for text. I was very pleased with the results.

Out of the couple of dozen or so frames I took during this shoot, I will probably keep about 25% of them. This one was one of my favorites.
