The Foresthill Bridge (California's tallest bridge) stretches over the beautiful North Fork of the American River, Auburn, CA.
Auburn is awesome, especially in Autumn!
Join me this coming Sunday for an all day photo shoot down into the American River Canyon and in Old Town Auburn. See why Auburn is becoming more of a tourist destination and less of a place to just stop on the way to Lake Tahoe and Reno.
I love to share my town any chance I get and that is one reason why I am offering my American River/Old Town Auburn Photo Tour & Workshop.
Here are a few tidbits about Auburn:
- We have the oldest volunteer fire department in the West.
- We also have the tallest bridge in California.
- Parts of Phenomenon and XXX (among others) were filmed here.
- We are the “Endurance Capital of the World.”
- And much more…
I am offering this Photo Tour & Workshop at a sweet 2 for 1 price. For just $125.00, you and a friend (spouse, relative etc.) can enjoy a whole day with me (includes lunch), honing your photography skills and learning more about what makes Auburn so awesome!
Hurry and book before it’s too late. The deadline is this Wednesday!
See more images of Auburn.
Thanks for visiting!

Active Baby Boomer Peg Challender kayaking on Lake Clementine, Auburn, California.
Could I possibly be dreaming of warmer weather?
Yep, that is one reason why I choose to feature this photo of Peg kayaking on Lake Clementine for today’s post. Also, Peg is a great friend and model, who appears in a lot of my Outdoor Lifestyle photos.

Foggy January morning over the American River Canyon, Auburn, California. This image was processed with the wonderful Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.
Hi everyone! You probably thought I had disappeared and was never coming back. No, that isn’t the case at all. I’m just spread a little too thin right now and I had to space these very time intensive posts out a little bit. I hope you understand!
That said, I have put together another collection of mighty fine Lightroom tips for you. Here they are in random order. Enjoy and have an awesome weekend! [click to continue…]

Fog hovers over the American River Canyon, Auburn, California. This image was developed in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.
After 12 days straight of rain, there was a major case of “Cabin Fever” at Der Meyer Haus! Yesterday, the sun finally showed it’s pretty face and Jeff, our dog Cocoa and I took a hike. 😉
As we were driving to the Stagecoach Trail, we were rewarded with this scene above. It was a definite cure all for “Cabin Fever!” Fog hovering over the American River like this is very common this time of the year, but it does require a bit of planning to get shots like this of it. If you are not willing to get up and get out early, you will miss the golden opportunity!
More images of our foggy morning adventure to come soon! To see more of our Auburn images, please visit our Auburn Stock Photo Gallery.

This photo of the Foresthill Bridge in Auburn, CA was taken last month, during our Big Sierra Snowstorm. This bridge crosses the American River and connects Auburn to the tiny town of Foresthill.
One of the most popular searches on this Photo Blog is for the Foresthill Bridge (also known as the Auburn-Foresthill Bridge). I can understand why. Not only is it the tallest bridge in California, but it’s the 3rd tallest bridge of it’s kind in the United States.
This bridge was featured in the movie XXX and has become quite the base jumping spot. To see more of our images of this famous bridge, visit our Auburn Stock Photo Gallery, or you can do a search for the Foresthill Bridge on this Blog.
We will be adding more images of this Auburn Icon to our Website in the near future, so be sure to check back often.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Sherri & Cocoa hiking along the North Fork of the American River, Auburn, California. This image was developed using both Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 & Adobe Photoshop CS3.
It’s been a couple of weeks since we took this hike. The color down in the canyon was looking pretty good then. This weekend, we are returning to a different location along the American River for more Fall photos. I’m really looking forward to getting out again. I’ve been tethered to my computer too long in one stretch.
I should have some new Fall nature images up next week for you all to see.
Have a great weekend everyone!

The famous Foresthill Bridge, Auburn, California. It was processed using a combination of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 and Adobe Photoshop CS3.
What: The famous Foresthill Bridge.
Where: North Fork of the American River, Auburn, California.
When: A couple of weeks ago.
Who: Jeff, our dog Cocoa & I were taking a Fall hike.
How: The Foresthill Bridge was reflecting in a mud puddle. I thought that was pretty cool. So I took a series of photos of the mud puddle. This was one of my favorites.
Then, in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2, I rotated the photo so it was upside down and now you see the bridge right side up in the mud puddle.
Did anyone guess how this image was captured, before I revealed the answer?
